Portia’s story

Portia’s lived in her property with her partner and young son for two and a half years. “We needed to move out of our rented property quickly” she said. “After 10 years our landlords decided to sell the property as their company had gone into administration.

With a baby on the way, this was a stressful situation. Having been settled for 10 years, discovering the state of the private rental market in Liverpool came as another unwelcome shock.”

Family homes to rent at a fair price are few and far between. The majority of family homes available to rent in our desired areas are aimed at students and are let by the room. Of the few three bedroom houses to families, most were overpriced and in poor condition.

Our Equfund home was by far the best condition and rent was fair. Our neighbour’s lovely and house-proud, so it’s a nice place to live. Further along our street is Park Palace Ponies—a social enterprise run by volunteers offering free riding lessons to children. My son loves watching ponies trot down our street each day.

Equfund have been positive and we found them to be very reasonable and always professional. Their repairs and maintenance service has always been excellent; very polite and personable, helpful and knowledgeable. They clearly take pride in their work. When repairs were required, I’d no concerns leaving them while I was out. I always came back to find the house clean and tidy, no mess left behind.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Equfund as a landlord.”

We’ve lived here for over two years and have been able to save a deposit to buy our own home, enabling us to get on in life and provide our young family with security and stability for the future.
